The Amazing Race Season 37 Episode 3

In Episode 3 of The Amazing Race Season 37, the eleven remaining teams continued their journey in Japan, traveling from Osaka to Kyoto. This leg introduced the coveted Express Pass, allowing a team to bypass a future challenge.
Roadblock: Kemari Challenge
Upon arriving in Kyoto, teams faced a Roadblock at the Shiramine Jingu Shrine, where one member had to participate in kemari, an ancient Japanese game resembling soccer. The task required participants to make five consecutive passes without the ball touching the ground. The first team to have both members complete this challenge would earn the Express Pass. Jonathan and Ana Towns secured this advantage after Ana overcame initial difficulties.
Detour: Fold It or Fling It
Teams then chose between two Detour options:
Fold It: Assemble a giant origami crane.
Fling It: Hit a target using traditional ninja weapons.
Scott and Lori Thompson initially attempted “Fling It” but switched to “Fold It” after facing challenges, ultimately completing it first. Conversely, Alyssa and Josiah struggled with “Fling It,” requiring multiple attempts before deciding to switch tasks.
Pit Stop and Elimination
The leg concluded at the Komyo-Ji Temple. The arrival order was:
1. Scott and Lori Thompson
2. Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge
3. Jonathan and Ana Towns
Courtney Ramsey and Jasmin Carey, hindered by navigation errors and delays at the Roadblock, arrived last and were eliminated from the race.
