The Amazing Race Season 37 Episode 5
In Episode 5 of The Amazing Race Season 37, titled “It’s Not Personal, It’s Business,” the competition intensified with unexpected twists and challenging tasks in Bali, Indonesia.
Double U-Turn Vote:
Teams convened at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud, where host Phil Keoghan introduced a surprise live Double U-Turn vote. Each team cast a vote to determine which two teams would be required to complete both sides of the upcoming Detour. The votes resulted in a tie, with Scott & Lori and Jonathan & Ana each receiving four votes, leading both teams to face the Double U-Turn.
Detour: Coconuts or Coral
At Pantai Pandawa, teams chose between two Detour options:
Coconuts: Teams loaded a bicycle with 60 coconuts, delivered them to the Warung Van Ronden Cafe, and stacked them into a pyramid.
Coral: Teams attached five species of coral to a reef star, snorkeled out to the ocean, and placed it for coral reef restoration.
Due to the Double U-Turn, Scott & Lori and Jonathan & Ana were compelled to complete both tasks, significantly hindering their progress.
Roadblock: Surfboard Match
Following the Detour, at Nusa Dua Beach, one team member participated in a Roadblock where they paddled out to sea to find a surfer whose surfboard matched their own. Upon locating the correct surfer, they received their next clue directing them to the Pit Stop.
Pit Stop and Elimination:
Brett & Mark excelled in this leg, finishing first and earning a $10,000 prize. Conversely, Scott & Lori, hindered by the Double U-Turn, arrived last at the Pit Stop and were eliminated from the race.
