In Episode 7 of Survivor Season 48, the game intensified with a double elimination and a significant twist affecting the jury composition.
Immunity Challenge:
The twelve remaining contestants were divided into two groups of six for an endurance-based immunity challenge. The last person standing in each group would win individual immunity. Additionally, the overall winner would secure a peanut butter and jelly reward for their group and guarantee them spots on the jury. Early in the challenge, Cedrek McFadden dropped out within 15 seconds, while David Kinne and Joe Hunter emerged as the final two. David ultimately outlasted Joe, securing immunity for himself and his group, as well as the jury spots and reward.
Tribal Councils and Eliminations:First Tribal Council: The group without immunity—consisting of Sai Hughley, Mitch Guerra, Chrissy Sarnowsky, Star Toomey, Eva Erickson, and Joe Hunter—faced elimination. Sai, known for her aggressive gameplay, was targeted. Mitch used a “block-a-vote” advantage against Sai, preventing her from voting or playing her Shot in the Dark. She was unanimously voted out 5-0 but did not make the jury, a decision that surprised many fans.
Second Tribal Council: The immune group—David Kinne, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu, Shauhin Davari, Mary Zheng, and Cedrek McFadden—attended tribal council to vote out one of their own. Despite his earlier confidence, Cedrek was voted out 5-1, becoming the first member of the jury.
The episode showcased evolving alliances and strategic plays. Kyle and Kamilla subtly targeted Shauhin by planting unprovable suspicions about him possessing a hidden immunity idol. Meanwhile, Coach G (Mitch) effectively used his advantage to eliminate Sai without triggering her potential defenses. Mary Zheng emerged as a resilient contender, being the last surviving member of the Vula tribe.
