The Amazing Race Season 37 Episode 9

​In Episode 9 of The Amazing Race Season 37, titled “The Pizza de Résistance,” the remaining five teams journeyed to Naples, Italy, where they faced a series of Italian-themed challenges.​

Leg Overview: Naples, Italy

All teams arrived in Naples on the same flight and proceeded to Castel Sant’Elmo via taxi and funicular to receive their first clue. They then had to locate the Pulcinella Statue to obtain their Detour options:

Detour: Mandolin or Mozzarella

Mandolin: Teams assembled the final pieces of a traditional Neapolitan mandolin.​

Mozzarella: Teams braided six mozzarella knots (treccia) to meet specific weight requirements.​

Brett & Mark and Carson & Jack chose the mozzarella task, with Brett & Mark initially leading. However, Carson & Jack overtook them after perfecting their cheese braids. Jonathan & Ana opted for the mandolin task and completed it efficiently. Han & Holden faced difficulties with the mozzarella task, falling behind. ​

Roadblock: Italian Grocery Delivery

Teams proceeded to Vico II Montesanto, where one member had to shop for groceries listed in Italian and deliver them using a bucket-and-rope system to a resident on a balcony. Jonathan & Ana excelled in this task, while Han & Holden continued to struggle. ​

Final Task: Pizza Making

At Ristorante da Ettore, one team member had to craft an authentic Margherita pizza from scratch. Carson faced challenges with dough thickness and sauce quantity but ultimately received praise for his pizza base. Han & Holden arrived last and were still working on their pizzas as other teams departed.

Pit Stop: Castel Nuovo

Teams delivered their pizzas to Castel Nuovo, the Pit Stop for this leg. Jonathan & Ana secured first place, earning a 5-night trip to Mexico. Brett & Mark finished second, followed by Alyssa & Josiah in third, and Carson & Jack in fourth. ​

Han & Holden arrived last but were relieved to learn it was a non-elimination leg. They will face a Speed Bump in the next leg.
